What happened:
Last night we ran our very first BOSS Challenge Session! It was a chance for business owners to come together and tackle various common challenges they face in their businesses…
After everyone introduced their company through business networking, we focused on 2 challenges yesterday:
- Attracting new clients
- Retaining customers
Everyone offered some great ideas, news and advice to one another.
One of the most important points that came up was…
BOSS Tip: Understand who your typical client is & know what type of client they are!
The reason being, once you know who you’re targeting you know who you want to attract, it’s easier to find the different mediums to find out how to reach them. (What better way to find these mediums then to brainstorm with other business owners!)
Knowing what type of client they are is important when it comes to retaining them. Are you their trusted advisor? Or did they just need you that one time? Be aware of how much time you spend on retaining a customer, and if they are the right ones to retain.

Earlier today 14 of our BOSS Members successfully completed the BOSSystem Orientation!
A group of our driven BOSS Members gathered at the Old Mill this morning to learn more about the online component of the BOSSystem. They learned how to navigate their member account, post announcements for other members to see, utilize the BOSS Directory, and most importantly how to send and receive referrals using the very unique BOSS Referral System.
What once were strangers from different areas of the city, became familiar faces over the course of the morning. Not only were they now part of an innovative business community and support network, but they were armed with a tool that can really take their business to the next level.
As always the power of BOSS shon through as members began to give each other leads and referrals that could potentially lead to business. Best of all, everyone was more than happy to pass on these leads since they know what goes around, comes around … Seven-fold!
Congratulations to Francisco, Laura, Roman, Robert, Anne, Mark, Jared, Ryan, Khusheu, Steve, Kyle, Don, David and Carolyn who are all officially BOSS Certified Members!

As a BOSS member, you are all well aware of the sheer volume of people you will interact with at each and every networking event; some interactions will build stronger connections than others. However, once we have connected with certain individuals…
What steps should you then take to further the conversation?
How can you ensure that this relationship will continue to develop?
Here are a couple tips that may help “seal the deal”. Studies show that most business deals are not made on the first or second attempt, yet it takes several memorable conversations. With this in mind, make sure to stay persistent when creating a new relationship. Don’t procrastinate! Consider setting a timeline, for example; “I will contact Joe before the end of the week.” Implementing a strict timetable will increase the probability of success.

It still gives me quivers to hear these stories and many others which prove the incredible impact we are having on each and every business owner we work with. I am constantly motivated by the quality of the community of businesses we are bringing together to really leverage off each other in some of the most creative ways possible.
