Lessons from the 2010 Vancouver Olympics
Monday, March 8th, 2010
First of all let me say that this is a great time
to be a Canadian! It was fantastic to watch our athletes perform so well on the world stage and it was also very uplifting to see so many Canadians support our athletes and show their pride in being Canadian.
But are there any lessons that we could learn from the Olympics that could apply to us in business? Well from our perspective there are many. Here are a few that we complied while watching our Olympians perform on the world stage.

There is nothing wrong with this but rather is simply the nature of competitive games. Some people say that silver medal is the first loser. But this can be a cynical way of looking at competition. There is nothing wrong with competition – far from it – it will bring out the best in athletes and people. However we must realize the limitations that can arise form thinking in the competitive plane and this is especially true in business.
In business, what we must realize is that there are two planes to operate from: the Competitive Plane and the Creative Plane. (more…)
